I have been working in Fonyód as a freelance teacher of Hungarian, English, German and as a graduate translator and interpreter since 2006. I also teach ONLINE, e.g. on SKYPE. I have already helped a lot of Brits and Americans acquire basic knowledge of the Hungarian language or improve their Hungarian.
I achieved a degree in teaching German as a foreign language at the University of Szeged and have a Language Examination Certificate in English Level C1, combined. Then I taught German and English as a foreign language from 1993 to 2006 in secondary schools, primary schools and language schools.

I have been taking Hungarian lessons from Ildikó Farkas twice a week since August. I was not exactly a beginner since I did study the Hungarian language for a year, but that was seventeen years ago. In the time since then I have visited Hungary every year because my husband is Hungarian. Ildikó has been skillful at centering in on what I already know and what I need to learn. She has used a variety of methods in teaching me, such as studying vocabulary words, constructing sentences, and learning dialogues and grammar from textbooks. I am learning a lot while enjoying my lessons. I am glad to recommend Ildikó Farkas as a language teacher.

Ildikó is a wonderful teacher and makes the lessons both interesting and fun.

My fascination and interest with Hungary began with a holiday in Budapest prior to Hungary joining the European Union. After many repeat visits I decided to purchase a property in Hungary and spend more time in the country.
Not long afterwards my interests expanded further and I acquired a local Pub and other business interests. It soon became evident that if I was to progress further a working knowledge of the language was essential.
Consequently I decided to study Hungarian, but searches for suitable classes in the UK proved fruitless. Shortly afterwards Farkas Ildiko was recommended to me by one of her pupils.
I decided to embark on a series of Hungarian lessons with her and I haven’t looked back since. Ildiko is a talented teacher with the ability to tailor her lessons to address individual needs, focussing on what is essential and addressing weaknesses. She is helping me reach my personal objectives and this is proving very beneficial, both socially and professionally.
I have now been studying Hungarian with her for one year, both face-to-face in Hungary and online when I am in the UK. I am now extremely satisfied that I can both engage in basic conversation with local people and communicate effectively with hired help.
In addition to teaching me Hungarian I have also engaged Ildiko as an interpreter and translator, and employed her to carry out many duties and tasks on my behalf. These have been carried out with the professionalism, diligence and efficiency of a Personal Assistant.
In short, I have no reservation in recommending Farkas Ildiko as either a teacher, interpreter, translator or Personal Assistant.
